A Web Part is a modular unit of information that contains Web-based content and is the building block of a Web Part Page. Web Parts work with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web Sites only. A Web Part is made up of several component files that store the data and information necessary to render the Web Part.

When you add Web Parts to your page by using Microsoft FrontPage, you have more control over how they appear than you would by working with them on your SharePoint site. You can also create connections between Web Parts so that when you perform an action in one Web Part, it changes the contents of another Web Part.
